The Artist - Lynette Taylor
My ideas primarily deal with the passage and layering of time and the traces left behind. Old and derelict buildings appeal to me in particular, with their atmosphere of past presences and the hints of imagined stories. I’m drawn to the layered textures and colours found on worn surfaces, evidencing the passing of time and often revealing hidden treasures. I mostly use hand-printing methods for my woodcuts because of the control it allows in the overlaying of many colours and textures to produce a more painterly approach. In recent pieces I have begun experimenting with combining collage and print to extend the range of textural possibilities.
