The Artist - Eliza Acty
Eliza works with natural wool as a needle-felt artist. She loves colour and detail in her exploration of painting and drawing and through the medium of wool has found an exciting and rewarding way of bringing her illustrations to life in sculptural form. Based in the stunning landscapes of Dartmoor, Devon, Eliza mostly finds inspiration from nature, wildlife, and all its character commonly found around the UK. Her intricate and stunningly life-like needle-felted sculptures represent the wildlife often seen from our windows and in our gardens. Eliza brings a keen sense of character to her pieces, with each sculpture being unique, convincing, and colourful. Her sculptures are made from several types of wool delicately compressed around wire armatures. She then blends different dyed wools to create the subtle colouring of her sculptures and uses single barbed needles to produce fine detail in her illustrative style.
