Rachel’s ceramic bird collection is inspired by a deep connection to the diversity of bird-life around her home in Devon. Each piece is created individually using clays of differing texture and inherent colour. The surface of the birds’ characteristic form is then enhanced with oxides and stains. Finally, these recognisable colours are enriched by raku firing. Rachel has a design background from architectural studies in the USA and an education degree in art and design.
