The Artist - Andrew Thomas SWAcI aspire to bring focus to a diverse range of subjects but am particularly drawn to those that delve deeply into the ultimate questions about life, humanness, and the space where we connect and live. I am especially fascinated by some ancient Eastern philosophies and find the works of Alan Watts and Aldous Huxley, amongst others, a great inspiration for my research. Nature is also a great influence, with her endless variety of captivating organic structures that tempt my further investigation. I use wood as a medium, employing the deconstruction process of hand carving to explore the infinite possibilities of form within the block. My works are then cast in bronze, which offers the permanence of a material that can be experienced and treasured for generations. | |
