Jenny Pymont BA (Hons) SWAc was born in Devon. She is an Academician and a Trustee for the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. Jenny has exhibited widely throughout her career. Recent exhibitions include Exeter Castle, Falmouth Art Gallery, Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Penwith Gallery in St Ives, and RAMM. “My work lies in a fondness for quirky still life. I like to be in control of the miniature worlds I have created, much like setting the stage for Theatre. I am influenced by the vanitas paintings of the Dutch Masters and the way they use light and symbolism to create drama, atmosphere and narrative. Many familiar motifs are used in my paintings such as beach flotsam, flowers, butterflies, birds, driftwood and shells. I enjoy symbolizing the many varied complexities of human relationships within a still life context, hoping that the feel and atmosphere of the paintings provoke a sense of timelessness and peculiarity.”
