The Artist - Emily StoneEmily Stone creates her Copper Creatures from her workshop near Dover in Kent. In 2001 she started sculpting full-time, and since then she has exhibited widely in galleries and gardens around Britain. Emily recycles copper hot water tanks, plumbing pipes and electrical cables to create her sculptures. After heating and beating the metal to her design she utilises the torch to generate beautiful colours, which she then seals with lacquer against the elements. Her sculptures are inspired by nature and capture the essence of the subject. This is particularly true in the case of her new fox sculptures. Emily has enjoyed exploring the character of these sly, inquisitive animals; not to mention their gorgeous textured fur and bushy tails, which work so well in the malleable medium of copper. | |
