Bridgend, Noss Mayo

Richard Stimpson was born in Somerset and has lived in Devon for over 40years. He has always been interested in art, and was influenced and encouraged by his father, who was also a painter. He is self taught, and paints from his home studio, in a range of styles and techniques. These range from loose, wet on wet watercolours, to very detailed oil paintings. Having tried and experimented with various media, his preference now lies with oils. He is attracted to capturing the play of light on a subject, be it urban, landscape or life painting, and has a fascination for reflections created by the movement and flow of water. His style is influenced by artists such as JMW Turner, Alvaro Castagnet, Fabian Perez and Andrew Wyeth. He has undertaken commissions for private homes in the UK, France, Canada and New York.
