The Artist - Conor Hurford
Conor Hurford is a sculptor based in The Peak District National Park. He studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University (2014-2017) graduating with a first-class degree. He has taken part in numerous group exhibitions and has been collected widely. His sculptural practice is driven by an underlying principle of direct stone carving, uninformed by proprietary sketches, and unaided by electrical or air-powered carving tools. A process akin to prehistoric carving to which his style is indebted; yielding sculptures with archaeological qualities, often described as: ‘artefacts’ and ‘specimens’ which range from the small to the monumental.
