Mark Harris has come to Ceramics after Forty years of painting Landscapes, Abstracts and from-life Portraits. In Ceramics he has found the freedom to create individual, unique works that have no influences and no boundaries. He has indulged himself by going his own way. He likes to set his imagination loose and see what occurs. One way he does this is to lie in bed half asleep and let the shapes drift in. He can ask himself, "What would happen if I did this?" or, indeed, "How can I do that?" Another technique is to get a piece of paper and a pen, and doodle out freestyle shapes and contours to see what coalesces into a workable idea. He has not run out of ideas yet.
