The Artist - Tessa Jane
Tessa is a Fine Art Contemporary Textile Artist she takes that which has been discarded and makes it precious again. Her work has many levels. Its aim is to draw you in and to ask questions. A theme is explored through paint, collage and stitch, creating a series of works in mixed media. Motifs are drawn and repeated creating a portmanteau, a body of work which is a response to her experiences in life- the environment, the pandemic, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Having trained in constructed textiles, Tessa likes to weave a story into each work inspired by poetry and events.
“Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.” Desiderata 1st verse by Max Ehrmann
Tessa recycles fabric and materials, sourcing found objects to illustrate her thoughts and share her ideas. At Art Fairs and exhibitions she often builds a narrative. Her craft steeped in William Morris principles means everyday objects have new life breathed into them so they can bring joy and comfort in a practical way. Nothing is wasted, life is so precious. Tessa is an award winning artist, has exhibited nationally and internationally, including Florence Biennale and has been a winner of The Oxford International Art Fair.
