I am a professional contemporary award-winning sculptor who specialises in stone. I am largely self-taught. I use a technique called carving direct which follows the grain, form and colour in the stone. Once I see an image within the stone, I carve until I reach a kind of skin and the piece takes on a life of its own. The sculptures can be figurative or abstract. Common themes are spirituality, social and health issues, and horses. Notable sales are to the subcommittee chair of the United Nations, Gloucestershire NHS Trust as well as sales to Europe and the USA. I am based in Gloucester in an old shirt factory where I take commissions and lead weekend carving courses.
